ایک بوڑھے باپ نے اپنے بیٹے کو بلا کر ایک پرانی خستہ حال گھڑی دی اور کہا بیٹا یہ گھڑی تمہارے پڑدادا کی ہے اس کی عمر دو سو سال ہوگی یہ گھڑی میں تمہیں دینا چاہتا ہوں لیکن اس سے پہلے تمہیں میرا کام کرنا ہوگا اسے لیکر گھڑیوں والی دکان پر جاؤ اور پوچھو وہ یہ گھڑی کتنے میں خریدیں گے.
وہ لڑکا جب واپس لوٹا تو کہنے لگا دکان دار گھڑی کی حالت دیکھتے ہوئے پانچ درھم سے زیادہ قیمت دینے کو تیار نہیں
بوڑھے باپ نے کہا اب اسے وہاں لے جا کر بیچو جہاں نوادرات فروخت ہوتے ہیں. وہ لڑکا جب وہاں سے واپس آیا تو بولا وہ لوگ پانچ ہزار درھم دینے کو تیار ہیں.
یہ سن کر وہ شخص بولا اب اسے عجائب گھر لے جاو اور فروخت کرنے کا ارادہ ظاہر کرو۔ لڑکے نے واپس آکر کہا وہ لوگ اسے پچاس ہزار درھم میں خریدنے کو تیار ہیں.
یہ سن کر اس بوڑھے شخص نے بیٹے کو مخاطب کیا اور کہا
بیٹا گھڑی کی قیمت لگا کر میں تمہیں سمجھانا چاہتا تھا اپنی ذات کو اس جگہ ضائع نہ کرنا جہاں تمہاری قدر و منزلت نا ہو تمہاری اہمیت کا اندازہ وہیں لگایا جائیگا جنہیں پرکھنے کی سمجھ ہوگی۔
اگر دیکھا جائے تو ہم میں سے بہت سے لوگ اپنی صلاحیتوں کو ایسی جگہ ضائع کر رہے ہوتے ہیں جہاں سوائے وقت ضائع کرنے کے انہیں کچھ حاصل نہیں ہوتا اپنی صلاحیتوں خوبیوں کو صحیح سمت استعمال کرو ایسی جگہ خود کو مت تھکاؤ جہاں بدلے میں سوائے تھکاوٹ کے کچھ حاصل نہ ہو.
