During the time of Hazrat Musa (peace be upon him), there was a person who was never steadfast in his repentance. Whenever he repented, he would break it. Even twenty years have passed in this situation.
Allah Ta’ala revealed to Hazrat Musa (peace be upon him) that say to this servant of mine, I am very angry with you. When Hazrat Musa (peace be upon him) gave the message of Allah to this man, he was very sad and left for the forests.
He went there in the forest at a lonely place and said in the court of the Almighty: “O Lord of the Almighty! Has your mercy diminished, or have my sins hurt you? Have the treasures of your forgiveness been exhausted, or have you no longer looked at your servants? What is the greatest sin? You are generous, I am stingy. Has my stinginess overcome your grace?
If you deprive your servants of your mercy, to whose door will they go? If you scold, where will they go? O Lord of power and wrath! If your forgiveness is less and only punishment is left for me, then give me the punishment of all the sinners, I sacrifice my life for them.
Allah Almighty said to Musa (peace be upon him): “Go! And tell my servant that you have understood the truth of my power and forgiveness. Even if the earth is filled with your sins, even then, I will forgive.

حضرت موسیٰ علیہ السلام کے زمانہ میں ایک شخص ایسا تھا جو اپنی توبہ پر کبھی ثابت قدم نہیں رہتا تھا۔ جب بھی وہ توبہ کرتا، اسے توڑ دیتا۔ یہاں تک کہ اسے اس حال میں بیس سال گزر گئے.
اللہ تعالیٰ نے حضرت موسیٰ علیہ السلام کی طرف وحی کی کہ میرے اس بندے سے کہہ دو میں تجھ سخت ناراض ہوں۔
جب حضرت موسیٰ علیہ السلام نے اس آدمی کو اللّہ کا پیغام دیا تو وہ بہت غمگین ہُوا اور جنگلوں کی طرف نکل گیا۔
وہاں جا کر بارگاہِ ربّ العزت میں عرض کی :” اے ربّ ذوالجلال! تیری رحمت کم ہو گئی یا میرے گناہوں نے تجھے دُکھ دیا ؟ ،تیری بخشش کے خزانے ختم ہو گئے یا بندّوں پر تیری نگاہِ کرم نہیں رہی؟ تیرے عفو و درگزر سے کون سا گناہ بڑا ہے؟ تُو کریم ہے، میں بخیل ہوں۔ کیا میرا بخل تیرے کرم پر غالب آ گیا ہے ؟ اگر تُو نے اپنے بندّوں کو اپنی رحمت سے محروم کر دیا تو وہ کس کے دروازے پر جائیں گے ؟ ،اگر تُو نے دھتکار دیا تو وہ کہاں جائیں گے ؟ اے ربِّ قادر و قہار! اگر تیری بخشش کم ہو گی اور میرے لیے عذاب ہی رہ گیا ہے تو تمام گناہ گاروں کا عذاب مجھے دے دے میں اُن پر اپنی جان قربان کرتا ہوں.
اللّہ تعالیٰ نے موسیٰ علیہ السلام سے فرمایا :
“جاؤ! اور میرے بندّے سے کہہ دو کہ تُو نے میرے کمالِ قدرت اور عفو و درگزر کی حقیقت کو سمجھ لیا ہے۔ اگر تیرے گناہوں سے زمین بھر جائے تب بھی میں بخش دوں گا.
