It is said that in ancient times, a very terrible and cruel giant lived on a high and difficult mountain. His habit was that he would raid the surrounding settlements every day, capture humans from there and cook them for his food. The people of the surrounding area had become helpless due to the terrifying cruelty of the giant and wanted to get rid of this torment at all costs. But the fear of the giant was so dominant in their hearts that they could never dare to realize this dream of freedom.
When the water passed over their heads and the tyranny of the giant increased to the limit, gradually a suppressed spark began to flare up in the hearts of the people and hatred began to grow. Finally, this hatred became the prelude to raising the flag of rebellion. Some of the zealous, headstrong youth of the settlements rose up against the giant and set out to eliminate this monster. Their efforts bore fruit and within a short time, secret consultations against the giant began at selected places. These meetings were kept in the utmost secrecy so that the giant would not be aware that people were hating him and planning to eliminate him.
However, the majority of the people were in a state of panic and were strongly against any kind of resistance. Their position was that if any action was taken against the giant, he would become angry and raze entire settlements to the ground. On the contrary, the enthusiastic youth were adamant that if the giant was not stopped, he would gradually swallow everyone anyway, so a fight was inevitable. But they did not stand a chance in the face of the expedient elders. They said bluntly, “If you take any emotional step, we will expel you from the community, lest the entire settlement fall victim to the giant’s reproach due to your lack of intelligence.”
This internal conflict was still going on when unfortunately the news of these secret activities and the formation of a line of opinion reached the giant. He became furious and in the fire of revenge, he trampled several settlements. Seeing this terrible reaction of the giant, the people lost their senses. Instead of confronting the giant, the frightened crowd blamed all the destruction on these freedom-loving youth and united against their own benefactors. Then what happened, their own people hunted their own people. Some were martyred themselves, some were captured and sacrificed to the giant and the rest were exiled. By committing this shameful act, those cowards were satisfied that perhaps they were now safe, although this was their biggest and most historical mistake.
This myth of history is actually a mirror of our today. A ‘giant’ of global colonialism is also ruling over our heads, which is destroying the resources, sovereignty and dignity of our nation. And the tragedy is that we are sitting in fear and cowering under its terror.
Most of us, driven by fear and so-called expediency, are leaving alone the handful of peddlers who dare to look this modern monster in the eye. Do we think that by handing over the resisters to the enemy, or by remaining silent, we will be safe? This is just a delusion! Remember, the hunger and lust of the oppressor never fades. If today we do not throw off the cloak of fear and support our true defenders, tomorrow it will be our turn, and then there will be no one left to hear our cries. Salvation does not lie in cowardice and slavery, but in uniting and stopping the hand of the oppressor.
This is the decision that nations make: a ‘safe’ death of humiliation, or a full-fledged resistance of honor!
