It is said that a king had been married for a long time but the house was lacking a crown prince, so he called for healers from all corners of the kingdom to treat himself and his queen.
It was written in destiny and Allah blessed the queen. When the son was born, the king was stunned to see that his son had a congenital disability and was born with one ear.
The king summoned all his ministers and consulted them that when this crown prince, who was born to take over the management of such a large empire, finds himself disabled like this, he will feel deprived. How can this defect be overcome? The ministers advised, Your Majesty, this is not a problem, announce that from today onwards, one ear of every child born will be cut off.
When all the prince’s concubines and the entire generation growing up before him have one ear, then there will be no feeling of deprivation in the prince’s heart. The order was enforced and implemented, in the next ten years, a one-eared generation was seen in the kingdom and people got accustomed to this habit and imitation. Once, a young man wandering around from somewhere and lost his way, landed in this kingdom. People were very surprised to see the two-eared boy. The children followed this strangely created young man and teased him by calling him a two-eared man. This young man also started to think of himself as a wonder, so that he would not remain a spectacle among these people, he cut off one of his ears. Is it possible that the entire creation of the world could become such a mentally disabled person? Yes, this has happened thousands of times in human history. To correct this perverted understanding and perverse mental disability of people, Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala used to send His prophets again and again, such as: The entire nation of Sayyiduna Ibrahim (AS) was suffering from the disability of polytheism, and Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) alone seemed very strange to them.
The entire nation of Prophet Lot (peace be upon him) was going in the opposite direction of nature, and Lot (peace be upon him) was the only one who seemed strange among them because he did not do the same things as them. The entire nation of Prophet Shuaib (peace be upon him) was so involved in usury and robbery that only Shuaib (peace be upon him) seemed very strange among them.
See: A basic principle in jurisprudence is that: the agreement of all people on a single matter does not make it permissible.
Wrong will always remain wrong even if all creation starts doing it, and right will always remain right even if none of creation is willing to do it. It is not about cutting off one’s ears. If you are sure that you are right, then do not deviate from your truth to please them. If they are not ashamed of their mistakes, then why are you ashamed of their rightness? Those who say that all people say this, whenever all people are mentioned in the Quran, it has come by mentioning these “qualities”:
They have no intellect.
They have no knowledge.
They do not show gratitude.
