She came to know that the king would leave and would pass through that specific route of canal of Isfahan.
So she went and stood on the bridge of the famous canal of Isfahan. When the Sultan came to the bridge, the elder said with courage and courage.
O son of Alap Arslan, will my justice be done on the bridge of this city or on the bridge of Sarat on the day of judgment? Choose the place you like.
The king’s companions were astonished at this impudence, the king dismounted, and it seemed that this strange and surprising question had a great effect on him and said to the old woman.
I don’t have the strength to decide on the day of judgment i want to decide at this place. What do you want?
The elder narrated his whole story, and the king expressed regret for this unworthy act of the soldiers and gave him seventy cows in exchange for one cow and made him rich.
The old woman said, “I am pleased with your justice and fairness, and my God and Messenger are pleased.” So then king mounted the horse.
Ahh! What a time it was, how free-thinking and outspoken those people were and how high-spirited the listeners were!
If a person in the present age of civility and politeness stops a ruler like this and talks freely with him, you can’t even imagine what will happen to him!
بادشاہ سلطان ملک شاہ ایک مرتبہ اصفہان میں جنگل میں شکار کھیل رہا تھا کسی گاؤں میں قیام ہوا.
وہاں ایک غریب بیوہ کی گائے تھی، جس کے دودھ سے تین بچوں کی پرورش ہوتی تھی، بادشاہی آدمیوں نے اس گائے کو ذبح کر کے خوب ضیافت اڑائی۔
غریب بڑھیا کو خبر ہوئی وہ بدحواس ہو گئی، بادشاہی آدمیوں کا مقابلہ کوئی داد و فریاد سننے کو تیار نہ تھا اس پر لاوارث اور ایک غریب عورت، ساری رات اس نے پریشانی میں کاٹی.
صبح ہوئی دل میں خیال آیا کہ کوئی نہیں سنتا تو نہ سہی، کیا بادشاہ بھی نہ سنے گا ؟
جس کو خدا نے غریبوں کو ظالموں سے نجات دینے کیلئے اتنی بڑی سلطنت دی ہے. اس نے بادشاہ تک پہنچنے کی کوشش کی مگر ناکام رہی، معلوم ہوا بادشاہ فلاں راستے سے شکار کو نکلے گا.
چنانچہ اصفہان کی مشہور نہر کے پل پر جا کر کھڑی ہوگئی جب سلطان پل پر آیا ،تو بڑھیا نے ہمت اور جرأت سے کام لے کر کہا.
اے اَلَپ ارسلان کے بیٹے! میرا انصاف اس شہر کے پل پر کرے گا یا پل صراط پر ؟ جو جگہ پسند ہو انتخاب کر لے۔
بادشاہ کے ہمراہی یہ بے باکی دیکھ کر حیرت زدہ ہوگئے، بادشاہ گھوڑے سے اتر پڑا، اور ایسا معلوم ہوتا تھا کہ اس عجیب و غریب اور حیرت انگیز سوال کا اس پر خاص اثر ہوا، اور بڑھیا سے کہا : “پل صراط کی طاقت نہیں ہے میں اس جگہ فیصلہ کرنا چاہتا ہوں،کہو کیا کہتی ہو؟
بڑھیا نے اپنا سارا قصہ بیان کیا، بادشاہ نے لشکریوں کی اس نالائق حرکت پر افسوس ظاہر کیا اور ایک گائے کے عوض میں اس کو ستر گائیں دلائیں اور مالا مال کر دیا،
جب اس بڑھیا نے کہا تمہارے عدل و انصاف سے میں خوش ہوں اور میرا خدا اور رسول خوش ہے تو گھوڑے پر سوار ہوا۔
آہ! کیا زمانہ تھا ، کہنے والے کیسے آزاد خیال تھے اور سننے والے کیسے عالی حوصلہ!
اگر موجودہ تہذیب وشائستگی کے زمانہ میں کوئی شخص اس طرح حاکم کی سواری روک لے اور اس سے ایسی آزادانہ گفتگو کرے تو شاید آپ سوچ بھی نہیں سکتے کہ کیا ہو گا اس کے ساتھ!
