Avoiding Satan
There was a famous elder. Once a student came to him who was studying religious sciences. After studying for some time, when he started to return to his homeland, the elder said to him: Sir, tell me one thing. He said, “Find out.”

I am ready to tell you. He said, “Well, tell me, do you have a devil?” He said, “Where is the devil not?” Satan is everywhere. He said, “Well, when you want to be friends with God Almighty and Satan tempts you, what will you do?”

He said, “I will fight Satan.” They said, “Suppose you fought Satan and he ran away, but then you struggled to get close to God Almighty and then Satan stopped you, what will you do?” He said, “I will fight again.” He said, “Okay, you have driven him away a second time.”

But what if he attacks you again for the third time and does not let you move closer to Allah Almighty, what will you do? He was a little surprised but said: What remedy do I have except to fight him again? He said: If you continue to fight Satan all your life, when will you reach Allah? He became silent in amazement.

On this, the elder said: Well, tell me, if you go to meet a friend of yours and he has kept a dog as a guard and when you reach his door, it grabs your heel, what will you do? He said: I will hit the dog and what will I do? He said: Suppose you hit it and it moves away, but if you move forward to meet this friend again and then it grabs you, what will you do? He said:

I will pick up the stick again and hit it. He said: Well, if he attacks you again for the third time, what will you do? He said: If he does not stop somehow, I will call out to my friend to come out. This dog of yours does not let me go forward. Take care of him. He said: Just adopt this trick even in the face of Satan and when you cannot escape from his tricks, then ask God to let you grow closer to Him… Why don’t you hold the hand of the One in whose hands all these things are. If you make friends with Him, you will not be afraid of these things and you will be safe from all destruction and trouble. This is the remedy that the Holy Quran has mentioned…
