Groundhog Day

Groundhog Day

In a city, there lived a very big miser. He was so stingy that he would spend even a rupee on himself. His only wish was to get something good to eat without spending any money.
One day, a rich friend of his invited him to his house for dinner. The miser arrived there happily. The friend had prepared a very delicious and expensive fried fish for dinner. The fish was so fragrant that the miser’s mouth watered.
The miser started eating the fish without wasting time and ate it so fast that a large and sharp fish bone got stuck in his throat. The miser started choking, his face turned red and he started coughing.
The rich friend got worried and said to the servant: “Run quickly and bring the doctor from the street in front!”
Hearing the doctor’s name, the miser, who could not even speak because of the thorn stuck in his throat, with great difficulty grabbed his friend’s hand and gestured to stop the servant. He sobbed and said in broken words:
“Wait… wait! Don’t call the doctor. He will ask for a fee for coming. It is better to send the servant to the fish market and get another fish for me… Perhaps by eating the second fish, this first thorn will fall off by itself… and with this excuse I will also get another fish to eat!”

The friend could not help but laugh at his plight, that even when a person is dying, his stinginess and greed do not end.

Conclusion (Moral):
There is no cure for stinginess and greed (Greed and miserliness know no bounds). A stingy person can risk his life but cannot spend money.
