An old lion ruled over a very old forest. He had been ill for a long time, but instead of abdicating the throne, he decided that his son (Prince Lion) would now take over the throne.
The problem was that Prince Lion was born in the forest, but he was raised and educated on another, remote, luxurious island. He did not even know what the forest was like or what the animals suffered.
When the prince returned, the entire forest was decorated. The foxes (who were the ministers of flattery) put up advertisements everywhere: “Here comes the one who will change the fate of the forest! The same blood, the same race!”
One day, a thin donkey came to the prince and said: “Your Majesty! We are starving, the grass is gone and the water in the river is muddy.”
The prince lion, who was sitting on the silk sofa, said in surprise: “What happened when the grass is gone? Why don’t you eat cake and pizza? And if the water is dirty, why don’t you drink mineral water?”
The fox immediately took over and pushed the donkey out and spread this propaganda among the animals: “Look! How smart the prince is, he is giving you new food suggestions!”
The prince appointed his childhood friends (who were dogs and leopards from other forests) to great positions. Together, they used the resources of the forest as if it were their father’s estate. Whenever an animal complained about “where is Merit?”, he would get the answer:
“It is a favor to this family that they allowed you to live in the forest, otherwise you people would not have lived anywhere.”
Finally, the forest was destroyed, the birds flew away, and only those animals remained who were either slaves or flatterers. The lion prince packed up his wealth and returned to his island, saying: “The animals here are ignorant, they could not understand my modern thinking.”
“When the people start to understand that their salvation lies only in a ‘family’, they fall from the first step of consciousness.”
